zero install

does they completly depend on zero install?

I dont really like the idea of recompiling my kernel to add support for a new file system.

Cant just make a GTK-GUI for downloading each AppDir and dependencies? and place them in ~/AppDirs with also a .desktop for launching it with 0launch. With that manner i can buckup programms before clean my disks or i can place and delete manually each AppDir. And i think that it will be more accepted.

So, what is really the need of a new read only file system?
